I am not an open theist (though as always I am willing to learn), however, I consider Bob Enyart to be a great man, even a hero, for the following reasons:

-He loves God enough to take the heat for being true to the Gospel
-He loves his neighbor enough to tell others what they need to hear
-He is humble enough to let others know where he came from
-He glorifies God by where he is now
-He is one of the funniest people I have ever heard or seen

For the record, I am not a DBC member, and have never met Mr. Enyart

I am a DBC member and consider myself a friend of Bob Enyart, and agree with the above. However I would like to add one more thing.

-He is brilliant in matters ranging from theology to politics to physics.

From what I know I would agree with that as well.

I can’t quite go along with this specific claim. Sorry.

I should add that the first time I saw his TV show I was horrified. But I kept watching and after a while I finally "got it." I do miss the TV show.

My favorite episodes where when he held the tomato hostage and when he fried the eagle eggs.

I also appreciate his stance for Jesus Christ and for his use of the death penalty for evangelistic purpsoes. However, it is tiring to hear the constant references to Bob such as, "You should read Bob's book, The Plot" or "Listen to this show" or "Bob is great" or "Bob believes this" etc etc. As if he is the only believer on this forum that is incapable of teaching error.

Enyart is a flawed human like all of us. He has his strengths and weakeness. He is right on a alot of issues but he's wrong on others (that's right he's not perfect). Place this individual in a proper perspective.

I like Bob Enyart. I especially like him when he comes up with a new idea or take on a Christian issue or political topic. He has a very interesting mind, and is creatively funny.
I did know from listening to Pres. Bush that he was not truly pro- life. I did NOT know that the judges he nominated in Texas and now for the appelate courts were pro- choice! All the top- level Christian leaders are telling us that These are "good" judges, worthy of our support and fighting for.
You learn things like this listening to Bob that you would not learn anywhere else. Why? ...because he has guts!

Those were inspired shows that illustrated a point weren't they :)

Without the pro-Bob threads there would be no balance to all the anti-Bob threads.

Necessary evil?

From Devo:

Are we striving for balance, or truth? If balance is paramount, then if there are too many moral people, then perhaps we need more rapists and murders to provide balance. An excess of good scientists – we need a bunch more pseudoscientists. Liars to provide balance to truthful people.

Instead how about trying for a maximum of good science, truthful people, moral people, and threads that reflect these ideals?

I am really enjoying Bob's show. Bob almost always says something in way that should have been obvious, but Christian's just seem to miss -- perhaps because we have become so used to our culture. Like Show 110 where Bob talks about pornography being legalized prostitution "prostitution is legal if you video tape it and then sell it"?

 Now why didn't I think of that?

The amount of controversy you see on TOL over the show and Bob himself just shows that people take notice of what's being said, and that He's taking a conclusive stand on something which is what we all should do, even if we don't agree on everything.

Now, we just need to get the show on for an hour, and get it aired Nation-wide...
