DO WE HAVE TO KEEP THE LAW

In Revelations it says to Keep the Law
But
The Ordinances are part of the Law and were Nailed to the Crux.

The law of Moses contains all the laws that Moses wrote.
Some Pharisees thought that gentile Christians ought to keep the law of Moses.
The Jerusalem Council declared that they did not have to.
The writings of Moses do not have legal authority over Christians.
They are instructive, but obsolete in their legal authority.

So which is it ??????
----------------------------------------------------

Re 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

Re 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Re 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Thus, the need to distinguish between the Israel of God, and the Body of Christ.

The Ordinances are part of the Law and were Nailed to the Crux.

The ordinances were recorded in the Book of the Law that was placed beside the ark of the covenant. The covenant was placed inside the ark of the covenant and ended up in the Temple at Mt. Zion.

Now we are the temple of God and we have the covenant placed within us through Jesus Christ.

If you claim to be Jesus' follower you should because Jesus says to keep His commands.

Why is it so difficult to understand?

No to the ritual matters in the OT.

But yes to 9 of the 10 Commandents. Paul writes we are under liberty, Galatiams 5:13-15; but we are to serve one another by love. Jesus speaks of love fullfilling the law Matthew 22:37-40, while Paul says the same thing Romans 13:8-10. We are no longer under a Sabbath as Jesus Christ is our true Rest. We see this from Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30; plus Hebrews 4:9-10; Colossians 2:16-17.

You do believe there are commands of God to be observed. Your view about what this means may or might change, but remember salvation is not of works. It is by grace through faith.

We are no longer under a Sabbath as Jesus Christ is our true Rest.

What does this have to do with the Father's specified day of rest?

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. (Hebrews 4:9)

The word "rest" in verse 9 is sabbatismos which comes from sabbaton, Sabbath.

Hebrews 4:9 is saying there remains a Sabbath for the people of God.

The seventh day of the week typifies the millennial seventh day which was observed by Israel as the Feast of Booths.

In Acts 15 we see that Gentiles who come to faith in Christ do not have to observe all of the Law of Moses. Salvation is not of works, but obedience to God and Jesus Christ are important... there are commands of God to be observed. Do you see what is necessary for the Christian to observe? You are not saved by these things. You can be saved by God in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for you.

On the contrary, Gentiles do not have to observe any of the Mosaic law and neither do Jews who have simply made the law into an idol.

The problem was that some people felt Gentile converts to Christianity necessarily should observe circumcision and the whole or entire Law of Moses, which is not the case. Do we agree on that?

God never sent Moses to the Gentiles with his law. His law was not for them, it was for the people of Jacob because of sin.

What are you saying? The Law was given to the nation of Israel by God and through the prophet Moses as well.

It was not for Gentiles. But He did not give it to us "because of sin". I suppose that appears in the NT somewhere, but I don't recall seeing it as an explanation for the giving of the law in Exodus.

Romans 3:19 NASB - 19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God;

It's part of Paul's teaching.

Galatians 3:22 NASB - 22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

Yes salvation is the free gift of grace thru Christ, Romans 5:1-2. But when we sees the parable Jesus spoke of the Sower, He spoke of 3 bad grounds and one good ground, Matthew 13:3-23. In the very last verse Christ states:
But he that received seed on the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Matthew 13:23
So we are not saved by our own works but when the Holy Spirit fills a new believer He will produce His own fruit or work in God's child, see Ephesians 2:10.

The good ground is the believer who excercises discipline to understand the deep things of the word. The thorns are the believers that are overwhelmed with concern about this world and their dependence upon riches, the cares of the world choke the Word and they become carnal. The stony ground are believers that never take the time to study God's Word never allowing the Word to deeply root in their lives, these are the Y2K, Prayer of Jabez, Blood Moon, believers carried away with every wind of doctrine. The wayside are not saved. Like Meshak and Keypur here on TOL these have rejected the gospel seed all together .
