House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot in the hip and at least one other aide was also hit in the chest by a gunman with a rifle who opened fire at a baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday morning, Fox News confirmed.

Police tweeted they “believed” the gunman was in custody. Sen. Mike Lee told Fox News, however, the gunman was dead. He said a staffer used a belt as a tourniquet to stop Scalise’s bleeding.

Based on what I've read, had it not been for House Whip Scalise being protected by two Capitol Police Officers along with a couple of armed citizens who were in the crowd, the republican congressmen, who all took refuge in a dugout, would have been sitting ducks for the gunman.

Maybe Congressmen should start carrying weapons to protect themselves in these very scary times that we're living in.

The man suspected of opening fire at a congressional baseball practice is 66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson ... and judging by his social media, he REALLY hates Donald Trump.

Hodgkinson's Facebook page is loaded with anti-Trump posts. He's also a staunch Bernie Sanders supporter.
Also notable, Hodgkinson is also anti-Hillary Clinton, with several posts about her as well.

Among the posts on his page, there's one that stands out from March which says, "Trump is Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co."

An anti-Republican Facebook group celebrated the GOP baseball practice shooting committed by one of its members.

James T. Hodgkinson, who shot Rep. Steve Scalise and others during a GOP congressional baseball practice Wednesday morning, was a member of a left-wing Facebook group called “Terminate The Republican Party.”

He was a regular commenter in the group, and some members decided to celebrate his disgusting act in a post.

“And it’s one, two, three shots you’re out at the old ball game!!!” member Mari-Ellen Cain wrote.
