If pot should be banned.. so should alcohol.

So...you have no examples of how the drug war is helping.

What war? Wars are supposed to be fought to win.

They want to keep drugs out of the country and peoples homes, but they can't even keep them out if prisons! The drug war should be ended if only for it',s sheer inefficiency and gross failure. No other agency is even remoteky as inefficient as the DEA. It needs to go.

You've acknowledged in your earlier post that "drugs are bad news". I can think of many other things that are "bad news", should they be legalized too? (actually most of them are in our morally lost society).

How about going about a different way of fighting the drug war instead of raising the white flag of surrender and watching the blood bath continue even worse than it is?

As this article says, it was Jewish tradition and the wine that Jesus made was fermented.

http://www.gotquestions.org/did-Jesus-drink-wine.html

Fermentation makes alcohol. You proved it was intoxicating.

Note also that intoxication is biblically forbidden and that drinking alcoholic beverages is not inherently sinful.

Show me a doper that says that he doesn't smoke to get high (intoxicated) and I'll show you a liar.

I don't care what the Bible says. It is not my law.

And the argument on this thread was not that intoxication should be illegal, but that all alcohol should. Your bible proves that to be stupid.

The drug war is the reason for the blood in the streets. During prohibition, Al Capone and others were killing all over the place over alcohol. When the black market for alcohol was ended, so did the violence. You don't see gangs killing over a case of beer.

Further, I believe that we should have a biblical government with Biblical laws. But we don't. I don't believe that this wicked system should gave this much power. I'm for legalizing all " crimes" that do not directly infringe upon the rights if others.

On a personal level, I do not believe that prison should be a punishment for any crime. Nowhere does the Bible prescribe imprisonment. The biblical punishments are restitution, public corporal punishment and execution.

And I also showed that it is not to be abused (which would lead to intoxication).

Yet you have no problem bringing up Jesus when you think that His actions suit your cause (which they don't).

No, it's either they should both be legal or both should be criminalized. There is a huge difference between responsible consumption of alcohol and the drug culture.

My original response was to keypurr who said that alcohol should be illegal.

The drug war is the reason for the blood in the streets.

If you knew anything about this subject you'd know that there is much more blood inside homes, inside emergency rooms, etc. etc. due to drug use and abuse.

During prohibition, Al Capone and others were killing all over the place over alcohol. When the black market for alcohol was ended, so did the violence. You don't see gangs killing over a case of beer.

While alcohol consumption isn't inherently immoral, drug use is.

Further, I believe that we should have a biblical government with Biblical laws. But we don't.

It seems to me that you're going about it the wrong way if you want to legalize something that destroys lives, families, communities and an entire nation.

So once you've got em hooked on smack, execute them?

Maybe they are just trying to "gladden their hearts". :chuckle:

Psalm 104
14
He makes grass grow for the cattle,
and plants for people to cultivate—
bringing forth food from the earth:
15
wine that gladdens human hearts,
oil to make their faces shine,
and bread that sustains their hearts.

You've yet to list ONE benefit if the drug war other than the prohibition of drugs. You haven't listed a single reason why the drug war is successful. You're just a statist .

I had a nice glass of dark red wine (with a hint of chocolate) with some pasta the other night. My heart (and stomach) was gladdened.

There are many:

The righteous role of government:

Romans 13:4

The ones in authority (civil government) are hardly representing God if they legalize things like recreational drugs that destroy lives.

Remember also that there are those who still abide by the laws (if it's illegal, they won't partake in that behavior).

And, as a Christian remember Jesus' two greatest commandments:

Matthew 22:36-40

It's pretty hard to love your neighbor as you'd love yourself if you allow him (through legislation) to destroy he and his family's lives when you know that the behavior that he's partaking in is very destructive.

Our government isn't righteous.

I never met an addict deterred by laws, and I've met plenty of addicts.

I hear of drunks beating their families all the time and no one is after alcohol prohibition, which is hypocritical.

Further, I've seen people due young from complications if obesity and ruined their families lives. Better get Michelle Obama to start regulating your diet.

Pro abortion, pro homosexual, pro pornography and now working on being pro recreational drug?

You are correct, it's far from being righteous, but that doesn't mean that God doesn't expect certain things from government.

I never met an addict deterred by laws, and I've met plenty of addicts.

I dealt with a junkie about an hour ago shooting up in a restroom toilet stall. He looked pretty new to the lifestyle (his weight looked good, no facial sores or an over abundance of track marks on his arms, etc).

These lost souls will steal from their own mothers (and often times beat them up if necessary) just to get money for their fix.

They need help, not a license to continue their destructive lifestyle.

I hear of drunks beating their families all the time and no one is after alcohol prohibition, which is hypocritical.

Keep in mind that we as a society have severely loosened up laws dealing with public intoxication, drinking in public, hours of sale, as well as glorifying being intoxicated.

We're a messed up culture in need of God.

Further, I've seen people due young from complications if obesity and ruined their families lives. Better get Michelle Obama to start regulating your diet.

Please don't compare people with eating disorders with junkies, that's a low blow coming from you.

So are you for making Christianity the official state religion and legally enforcing adherence?

All laws are based on someone's moral code. We as a nation had a Judeo-Christian based moral code before we became civilized (abortion, homosexuality, pornography, drug and alcohol abuse).

When it comes to the theology aspect of your question: keep in mind that there can be no such thing as a state religion when it comes to Christianity, as you can't force the love of Christ onto anyone.

What can be more destructive than rejecting Christ? Just as the law doesn't stop people from doing drugs, the law can't force someone to accept Christ. But are you suggesting we give people license to live their destructive lifestyle?

Civil government legislating laws that say that God's Word in our nation is no longer important would be the equivalent.

Just as the law doesn't stop people from doing drugs, the law can't force someone to accept Christ.

No law can stop people from evil behavior, but there is a huge difference between stopping all people from engaging in evil behavior and government telling them that it's ok to do so.

But are you suggesting we give people license to live their destructive lifestyle?

By legalizing marijuana and other recreational drugs, you are.
