Brillo, if we abide in Christ, we automatically love Him and our neighbor because He is in us and we in Him. It's not obedience. Our purpose in life is to love one another as Jesus loves us. This purpose is revealed to us as we abide in Him. It's really as simple as that. I think you are complicating it too much.
