A man claiming to be a prophet sent from God, walked onto the stage at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley California and rebuked well known pastor and teacher John MacArthur for his teachings that the spiritual gifts have ceased in today's day and age. The man went right up on stage, whistles loudly to get attention and then starts upbraiding MacArthur for his theology on speaking in tongues, healings, etc. "You're doctrine of cessation is in error!"

Ushers moved to the front of the church and escorted the protester out of the building. It was kind of a long slow march, though.

If it is true that MacArthur does teach the doctrine of cessation (of spiritual gifts); then the man was right. MacArthur is in error.

I've always taken issue with sermons being monologues.... scripture is full of examples of Christ and the Apostles teaching through dialog.

What about the oratory given by Jesus on the Mount; or the spoken warnings delivered by Jeremiah, to the Israelites; or the message Peter gave on the day of Pentecost... might not these be classified as 'sermons'?

John MacArthur is in error.

God's will is that His people live powerfully spiritual lives that give witness to the lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 1:8

You know, it's funny how once people began demanding scientific evidence all the truly amazing magic from god just stopped happening. When was the last time a blind person was suddenly able to see because they believed in god? Not to worry, science is getting good enough to fill that role and allow some people to see who previously couldn't.

What is also truly amazing is that some people care enough to spend long hours and lots of money to get educated enough to be able to help people see again.
