I heard a wise quotation one time, can't recall who said it but it is profound & goes soemthing like this

"he is the most immoral who makes an exception of himself"

now I am sure that means that.. say a preacher who preaches against adultery commits adultery

but I find it really disturbing that people would say No abortion for me, but if you people want to kill your children, have at it.

Are there no adverse consequences to mutilating YOUR body, much less someone else's, much less that of your own child?

Why would you save yourself from the horrible effects of something like abortion, but not anyone else?

America does NOT have "unrestricted " abortion laws . Late term abortions are allowed only in medical emergencies , to save the lives of pregnant women who would otherwise have died or been seriously harmed . Not to mention when a fetus was not viable either .
The overwhelming majority of abortions in America happen in the first trimester , before a fetus has developed any consciousness and can feel pain . And when don't just capriciously decide to have abortions late in a pregnancy . This just doesn't happen .

The vast majority of Americans are opposed to cutting human beings open and removing their organs. And yet they agree to allow it to be done to them, and to their loved ones every day, in hospitals all across the country.

Because it all depends on how you ask them the question.

Few Americans understand the different methods of abortion. Few Americans understand why certain abortion methods are now legal, and others are not, or why different methods are only legal under certain circumstances. So it's very easy to ask them questions about abortion that will illicit the response you want to hear. But all that does is make the one asking the questions out to be a fool, or liar, or both. Because the answers they are getting do not illuminate the reality of how Americans feel about abortion.

When the questions are asked honestly, and asked of people who understand the reality of the questions they're being asked, most Americans still believe abortion should be legal under certain conditions. And most Americans believe those conditions are generally the ones that are legal, now.

And in over sixty years of wrangling, lying, and throwing around shocking photos of dead fetuses, this has not changed.
