Jesus' sacrifice cleanses our sins. Why the need for purgatory?
Do you sin? In Purgatory we are purged of the temporal punishments that we earned in committing the sins that we commit. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

Wow... that false doctrine has its hold on you.

So do you think that "purgatory" is the "judgement seat of Christ"?

If Christ died for your sins... why are you still trying to pay for them?
Because it's self-evident that He did not die for all the temporal punishments of our sins. He did die for the eternal punishments. And He has the power to forgive us even the temporal punishments for our sins, that's called indulgence.

Begging the question is a logical fallacy.

You have NO scriptural support for this bogus theory.

Hi and just where is a verse where the Greek word INDULGENCE is found in the bible ?

In John 19:30 , Jesus says IT IS FINISHED / TELEO is in the Greek , PERFECT TENSE , PASSIVE VOICE and in the INDICATIVE MOOD !

#1 THE Perfect tense , that from Jesus , death on the cross and FOREVER his payment for SINS is forever FINISHED !

#2 , The PASSIVE VOICE means that Jesus died ONLY one time for SIN !

#3 , The INDICATIVE MOOD means verse 30 is TRUE !

Pick any sin, if you commit it, aren't there in fact temporal punishments for you? For others? Maybe you don't understand what temporal punishments are? Take bearing false witness. If you do this, under oath, and you're caught, you'll be arrested and charged with perjury. That's temporal punishment for your sin. That's self-evidence that all the temporal punishments weren't what the Lord died for. Even if you're not caught, the victim of your sin, or his or her friends or family, could seek you out and avenge your sin. That's temporal punishment.

Dan there are words for ideas that appear in Scripture, like Trinity or hypostatic union, and the idea of indulgence appears in Scripture just as much as the Trinity and the hypostatic union does but none of those words are found there.

I agree with that. The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Those are not "punishments"... they are consequences.

Gee "temporal punishment" WITHOUT "purgatory".... who would'a thunk it?

That's self-evidence that all the temporal punishments weren't what the Lord died for.
Again the FALLACIOUS begging the question.

Your doctrine is false and confused. Get out of that den of liars and thieves.
