Welfare is terrific so long as it goes from the person who earned it to the person in need because the giver has an interest in seeing that his gifts are not wasted.
When the government plays the roll of Robin Hood, it turns whole swaths of the population into thieves who are dependent on the government for their next allotment of stolen goods to live on.
Government welfare is theft and leads to death. It was taken, by force, from those who earned it, and given to those who refuse to do so. The government doesn't care if the money is wasted because it isn't their money. So long as the people who get the money are made to be addicted to receiving it, the objective has been accomplished. The harm it creates is nothing more than collateral damage in the pursuit of government power.
