I'm not sure why you all think that having a taser on a plane would have dramatically less responsibility and seriousness than off of a plane.

You don't see your situation here happening in bars, where tasers are perfectly legal, so why would being on a plane be any different?

If you use your taser on somebody, and they weren't threatening to hurt you or others, or they weren't trying to hijack the plane, then you still bear full responsibility for your actions.

You stated that the airlines should issue a taser to each passenger before the flight and then take them up at the end of the flight, in order to prevent high jacking.

In other words you want to arm the high jackers with additional tools?

Do you think that the high jackers may have some plan and equipment to get into the cockpit?

Or do you think they will announce their intentions before they make their move?

Screening to insure there are no weapons and securing the cockpit properly is the best idea! At least if there are no weapons then it would turn into passengers vs high jackers... force in numbers.

Unfortunately, if a high jacking is planned properly, it can not be stopped.........fortunately, it is becoming exceedingly more difficult to come up with fail safe plans due to the security investigations and screening process that have been implemented.

Post 9-11 anyone trying to "highjack" a plane is going to get torn apart, eaten, and shat out by the passengers which shows a need for more restrooms on planes but not stun guns (unless your bathroom routine includes a stun gun and in that case try a bran muffin).
Underwear bomber, shoe bomber, and ink cartridge bomber illustrate the new profile which is simply blow up the plane with no preamble.

Sure. Richard Reid didn't advertise his new Nikes. TSA did not stop him. We then had to remove our shoes through security.

They made an underwear bomb. TSA did not stop Abdulmutallab and we get the extra pat-down.

Meanwhile, they continue to pass through the security theater with ease and then get down to business. If a few people :mmph: decide not to fly because of TSA --even better--disrupt the economy. :BRAVO:

Next stop  anal/vaginal cavity search, strollers, etc. "The system worked...(Napolitano).:zakath:"

Search for the bomb and the :CRASH: bomber.

The TSA's new screening procedures are invasive and unconstitutional. They are in direct violation of our right to privacy, which comes as a derivation from all three of our inalienable rights to life, liberty, and property. The solution is to boot the TSA and give the responsibility for security to airlines and airports.

It's already kind of happening: http://www.examiner.com/libertarian-in-national/florida-airport-to-opt-out-of-tsa-screening

If I were in charge, my version of plane safety would be offering each ticket holder over 18 years old a handheld taser that is fixed on a low setting. It's non-lethal, wouldn't sacrifice cabin pressure with use, and it would take more than one taser-wielding passenger to bring down an in-flight threat. Arming flight attendants with higher-powered, projectile-type tasers could also be a good idea.

One good thing that airlines have done is that they have reinforced the cockpit doors and armed their pilots. It seems that it would be impossible to turn a plane into a missile with those measures.

While I wouldn't put it in exactly those terms, I think it's right that, since 911, the men on a plane will never allow a cockpit to be taken again! Even if you got a machine gun on the plane. You won't take the cockpit.

Airport body scanners violate Islamic law, Muslims say Aren't :CRASH: they the reason we began this whole process in the first place? :dizzy:

"A Columbia University expert in radiation today confirmed that it is quite "likely" that the radiation from screening machines being installed nationwide by the Transportation Security Authority to use on airline passengers will cause cancer.

The word comes from David J. Brenner, of Columbia's Center for Radiological Research, and whose research involves radiation biology, low dose risk estimation and radiotherapy..." This is why 9-11 will happen again. Failure of strategy. Looking for things instead of people.

I don't think passengers will ever allow lightly armed muslims to hijack a plane again. And, no white grannies are going take part in a hijacking. So, this airport security is mostly pointless.

The best way not to be attacked is to not provoke an attack.

All of this, yes.

What I don't understand is all the people who still support neocon foreign policy and yet expect not to encounter the police state here at home. The MIC and the Police State need each other.
