Hello and thank you for responding. Actually, those who wrote the Bible say both that we live only once and that we reincarnate.
no reincarnation
(Hebrews 9:27) And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment,
the bible is consistent .
God agrees with himself .
reincarnation is your effort to attain nirvana or some such thing
Jesus says you can't get to heaven by your own effort
1. Isaiah 64:6 all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags
2. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
3.Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Psalm 90:3-5 says God brings us to dust and in the morning we grow like grass.
keep going (Psalms 90:6) In the morning it sprouts and shoots up; in the evening it is cut down, and dries up.
Psalm 110 predicts that the promised Messiah would be a descendant of King David and would be Melchizedek reincarnated.
no (Psalms 110:4) The LORD has sworn, and will not repent, You are a priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek.
Isaiah 25:8 says awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust, for your dew (condensation) is light. Daniel wrote that many who sleep in the dust will awake -- either to a good life or to condemnation (Daniel 12:2). Jesus repeated this prediction and said that those in graves would hear his voice and come again. Those who did good would reincarnate to life and those who did evil would reincarnate to damnation (using the word anastasis, which means the coming back to life of the dead)
resurrection followed by judgement , that's not reincarnation.
(Hebrews 9:27) And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment,
(Revelation of John 20:12) And I saw the dead, the small and the great, stand before God. And the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
(Revelation of John 20:14-15)
[14] And death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death. [15] And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire.
no reincarnation in the bible
(John 5:28-29). Malachi predicted that Elijah would come to Earth again before the "day of the Lord" (Malachi 4:5-6). An angel told Zacharias that his wife would bear a son with the spirit and power of Elijah (Luke 1:11-19). Jesus led his disciples to see that John the Baptist was Elijah who had been foretold by Malachi (Matthew 11:7-15, 17:10-13)
Elijah is still Elijah
John the Baptist still John the Baptist
2 different people
Elijah talked with Jesus at the transfiguration
(Matthew 17:3) And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah talking with Him.
Jesus' story about workers hired at different times of the day but all paid the same was about reincarnation
(Matthew 20:1-16). However often we come to Earth to learn the spiritual lessons we need to learn here the reward (eternal life with God and the end of our reincarnation cycle) is the same. Some learn their lessons after only a few lives. Some return in many lives. No matter how often we come or how long we stay the ultimate reward is the same.
not about reincarnation, God's grace and the equality of all believers in receiving eternal life, regardless of when they came to faith , not reincarnation
Paul expressed belief in reincarnation in Acts 23:6-8 and 24:14-16. Reincarnation was taught by St. Clement of Alexandria and Origen, both of whom predated Constantine, who had the gospels harmonized in the fourth century. So you bring up a good point way 2 go, and it is one that is still debated among Christians. Thank you, again, for replying.
debated by actual Christians , no , religious people , sure
(Acts 23:8) For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both
resurrection is not reincarnation
and you don't cease to exist when you die
your spirit will wait in heaven or hell for your body to be resurrected then the judgement
2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
(Luke 16:22-23)
[22] “One day the beggar died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. [23] In Hades, where he was in constant torture, he looked up and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus by his side.
