That's why it was skipped. None of us knew it was your birthday. You should make it public to the whole of TOL.

It's my birthday today.

Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday dear Stripey.
Happy Birthday to me.
Who's Stripe?

i don't think folks here get together and "celebrate", although some may. it's a friendly AND Christian gesture. or pagan, who cares -

you may find new and different things to worry about in your life's journey. they skipped mine here anyway, i don't mind. take care and Happy Birthday ! ! ! -

Happy birthday Patrick, and I wish you many more.

This is not so much directed towards non-Christians (because being pagans, they are simply practicing their pagan traditions. Although i'm not saying that what they do is right), but rather this is directed to those who are supposedly Christians. Don't you know that the celebration of birthdays, is a pagan tradition? Where in the bible do we find the saints celebrating their birthdays? Imagine Peter having his own birthday cake, and blowing out all the candles; and a party being thrown in his honor to mark his 'special day'. Aren't birthdays egocentric - putting the focus on man, not on God? Has God commanded that Christians should celebrate such pagan traditions as birthdays, Easter and Christmas? No, He has not. So why do you celebrate them? Why do you do that which is destestable in the eyes of God?

I'm going to assume your are JW, which is NOT Christian, so why ask Christians this question?

The names for the days of the week have a pagan origin. Today is Tuesday, and I have done nothing wrong in saying this. It would obviously be wrong to worship pagan gods, but I'm not doing that by using the name for a day of the week. The same is true for celebrating a birthday, Christmas, and Easter. All days belong to God.

Coincidence.... I just seen this thread now after posting the following comment in a birthday thread this morning.
"
The JW'S think it's a sin to celebrate someone's birthday. I think as Christians it's an awesome time to thank God for the people He has placed in our lives. And it is also a great opportunity to let the birthday boy or girl know that we appreciate them."

Poor God; making use of pagan ways. All those roads the Apostle Paul traveled spreading the gospel of Christ; roads built by pagans, for their own use, and to their own glory.

For that matter; why is this fool on the internet; another pagan idea.

The word grandfather is not in the Bible. Shame on us for using that word.

The Koine Greek was devised by pagan Greeks - "Heavens to Betsy - a good part of God's Word was written in that pagan tongue!"

"Stop the presses!" Oh, wait, they're pagan.

Agh! Both Paul and James compare the Word to that contraption the pagans came up with in celebration of themselves - the mirror!

Yeah, Man O, more like "thou art inexcusable, O man..."

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another

Seems to me that is what saying happy birthday is - recognizing and honoring another.

another thought:

Romans 14:5-8 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord”

Do what you like to do then. But don't get upset when negative consequences occur.

Like what? Do you really think God finds birthday celebrations to be Pagan and anathema?

Only wackos have such ideas. Be strong in faith, not strong in idiosyncrasies.
