I don't know that what they did is not illegal. Obviously the DOJ thinks it was...
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out in court.
Anna, you are the one who started this thread! It's about racism right? We are talking about racism. That's why we are talking about the SPLC now. Not because they are being charged with wire fraud, but because their foolish actions show they are uncapable of knowing whether or not they aren't actually promoting racial hatred.
We're talking exactly about the charges made by the DOJ, that's exactly where the discussion between you and me began. And whether those charges will hold up in court.
No, I didn't say that. In fact I just got done telling you that is not a particular concern of mine.
You actually did say exactly those words, which is why I quoted them:
Annabenedetti, most of us on this forum already understand that people who support the SPLC, aren't going to actually care if the money is ultimately used to manufacture racial hatred. Right? No one on the planet is expecting you to care about that.
No one else here seems to be particularly concerned about it either.
Appeal to popularity. Let's focus on the subject of the DOJ charges.
I wasn't talking about God. I was talking about the SPLC. You keep wanting to make this about me, instead of the subject of our disagreement. Other than an occasional correction made in this post, I'll stay on the subject, so if you want to keep making it about me, I'll leave the conversation.
People like you, who are against the moral standards that God expects us to live by
See, this is where you want to make it personal. I could say just as easily, 'people like you, who excuse and support racists,' couldn't I? But then I'd be trading ad hom for ad hom and I don't have the time or the energy to be outraged at a stranger on the internet whom I don't know any better than he knows me.
understand that at the political level, people generally associate these moral standards and Christian family values with the Republican party. Right? That's why you were angry when Trump, a Republican, was elected president.
So you told yourself, "You know what? I'm going to try to make the Christian standard of morality look bad, by falsely associating their morality with racism. That will make me feel better, because Christians are the ones who tell me I am wrong for supporting things like homosexuality and the murder of unborn children."
"So I told myself?" Nice straw man there. Another logical fallacy. You're literally making up this false narrative of my intentions and then arguing against that false narrative, instead of what I've actually posted.
So you posted a pic of a group of racists, basically claiming "Look! There are more racists now because people voted for a Republican. That is the morality they associate themselves with!"
You didn't do that because Trump or some other Republican was caught, intentionally or even haphazardly funnelling millions of dollars to organizations like the KKK. No, it was the SPLC that was doing that.
I'll point out here that I wouldn't have said (notice how you put it in quotes, as if I'd actually said it) that there are more racists now.
The racism has always been here. I have said that Trump made it easier for racists to be out in the open, becoming more, as the title of the thread says, emboldened.
You did it because you were lashing out against Christianity and the moral standards God expects of us. Right? And that's typical. Everybody gets that. There is no mystery that needs to be solved here. Kiddo.
I happen to be a Christian. I will speak out about Christian hypocrisy when I see it. That doesn't make me
not a Christian. Kiddo.
NB: Because I'm a Catholic, there are many who will claim I'm not a Christian. That's an argument for a different thread.
@annabenedetti We are telling you the truth because we want you to follow the Lord. There is nothing in the world that is more important than that.
We? I'm only talking to you here. And I don't think you have the facts correct regarding the SPLC.
And for the last correction: I already follow the Lord.
I don't want to be proselytized to, about a different kind of Christianity that excuses racism and in fact promotes it as one of the means (Project 2025) towards a white Christian nationalist authoritarian state. Hopefully you won't take that as being about you because you wouldn't be one of those kinds of Christians.
