Says the brit whose government has wrongfully disarmed its citizens.
Yeah, I'm from the UK and I'm glad to live in a country without such a pervasive gun culture, thanks. That being said, I have zero interest in taking away the rights of Americans to bear arms provided they meet the criteria that allows them to do so.
You drive, right? So, you'll have had to pass a test before being able to do so legally. Provided you drive responsibly, that right won't be affected or stripped away from you. However, if you drive irresponsibly, recklessly or under the influence and are caught it could be, depending on the severity of the offence but you'd only have yourself to blame - unless you think your rights have been infringed upon and you should be allowed to drive like a lunatic? Or maybe you think it's an infringement of your rights to have to take a test in the first place?
A car isn't in itself a weapon, although it can obviously be used as one and just as deadly. Now, unless you think anyone should be able to drive without any tests etc then the same should apply to firearms, it's just common sense. How is it interfering or infringing on your right to bear arms if protocols such as stringent background checks etc are employed? If you're a responsible, law abiding citizen then you've got nothing to worry about. Unless you consider every law we have that doesn't allow people to do whatever the hell they want "infringements" then what's the problem?
