Well let's see... Firstly Islam is something that is learnt about either from within or without. Someone ignorant of Islam could never be Islamophobic nor a Jihadist. Islam as any religion is not something anyone is innately born believing.

However open Islamophobia is perhaps something that might earn some kudos and acceptance within some less than enlightened peer groups, as too with homophobia.
Being openly Islamophobic is perhaps more a sign of someone who wants to be accepted within with a particular peer group, not someone who ever wants to be a Muslim or is covering up a secret Islamic belief. IOW someone who fears exclusion from a peer group for whatever reason but who desperately wants to be included.

A person who was gay but had managed to keep it hidden within a peer group openly hostile to homosexuality, say right wing conservative fundie Christians, may not want to face rejection by his family and peers, an even more desperate situation perhaps than just being a bit socially inept.

This person may believe without question in everything Christian fundamentalism espouses about homosexuality.
To not face such utter rejection this person will perhaps feel obliged to be even more outwardly hostile to homosexuality than his heterosexual peers.

This person may even be convinced that sexual orientation can be chosen and that for some reason sexuality is not an innate feature.

This person may be willing to live a lie rather than face the rejection that others have done.

This person may perhaps spend hours trawling the internet proclaiming about all the awful things that homosexuals do, and thus certainly not something that they would ever think of doing, oh no.

Protesting too much is usually a give away, anyone we know? :think:

There are no 100% safeguards in this world, but the labeling of a whole group of refugees as undesirable, based on their religion, is a sure way of providing ISIS and Al-Qaeda with a target population whose hopelessness could fuel a whole new generation of terrorists.
