Yes, but given my prodigious wit, I'm covered!

If wit is a weapon, you're well armed. :chuckle:

The last time I spent the night in the house by myself, (doesn't happen often that everyone's gone at the same time) it was a great comfort to have my 38 loaded and on the nightstand. That and the dog kept me sleeping like a baby.

And what about Storm Watch 200? (insert current year)...
Inundated with .25 inches of rain, were you?
CHP reporting 692 accidents in a 6-hour period, and is no longer responding to non-injury accidents?
22 people have been rescued from the flood channel?
Bumper to bumper traffic headed to the mountains to fill up the truck bed with snow?
:D

Well, there are those who would say I'm only a half-wit. :dunce:

Well, I definitely need to get a 38, because the dog stands at the door and waits for me to look out!

We're on 'stormwatch!' :chuckle: Clouds are just now making it over the mountain. And it's really windy and really cold! They're predicting snow showers here, which means we won't get any. But my in-laws live in the local mountains and are expecting 3 to 4 feet in the next two days! My son is eagerly awaiting its arrival - he has a season pass for snowboarding.

hmmm... pet peeves....

Trying to enjoy a nice dinner in a restaurant and having a family with young children two tables away who are screaming at the top of their lungs (People, control your kids!!)

People who can't spell to save their life. I don't mind minor spelling mistakes, but in today's society, people who say things like "i dont now y i cant spel. i wennt to skooll" is inexcusible in my opinion. And would it KILL you to capitalize your words when necessary?

Little dogs with high pitched barks who dont... stop... barking

I think that's it for me.

Those annoying disc jockeys who insist on talking all through the intro to a song and shut their yaps RIGHT when the vocal starts (as if they want to show us their impeccable sense of timing :bang:) The Steely Dan song, "Reeling in The Years" (with the excellent lead guitar intro) came on the oldies station here a couple of weeks ago on the way to work and right when I'm ready to play that lead on the steering wheel (you know what I mean ) the bozo jockey gives us the weather report, events of the day, quick news flashes right up to the first words sang; gee guys, I guess we just like the singing and nothing else!?...diiiiiisgusting!!!

Oh! And disc jockeys who don't announce the song title and artist either before or after, even if it's a block!

One of mine is people who are always longing for the "good old days", and the so-called "golden age", when everything was supposedly so much better than today.
For example, social conservatives who are always bellyaching about how we must return back to the allegedly more virtuous past, when
the was supposedly no abortion, no sexual immorality, when
gay people were in he closet, you could be arrested for buying a Playboy magazine, when pornography supposedly didn't exist,
divorce and illegitimacy were not common, despite the fact that they WERE common, prayer in school was allowed, and it supposedly made kids more virtuous(not true at all), and all that nonsense.
In fact, many people were terribly repressed back in the 50s, and despite the fact thatshows like Leave to Beaver , Ozzie and Harriet etc were on
television, there was still plenty of immoral conduct . There just wasn't the lurid publicitywhich exists today.
It's all an illusion . And doing what many conservatives advocate,
such as censoring films and television, and things we read or view won't make people more virtuous. Censorship never does this.
And it only increases temptation and encourages vice .
