17 Year Old Shot And Killed By Cop

Did the cop make mistakes, of course. But all of this could have been solved by giving the cop his information. Or admitting he didn't have it and moving on. That's it. It would have been over.

Didn't even have to start. The cop didn't have to pull over three different people because his headlights were too bright.

The cop has a duty to not escalate a situation unnecessarily. He should have waited for backup.
None of which would have been needed if he had just given him the information. Look, I am not going to argue. All I am saying is the kid had the opportunity to be straight up and move on. He made poor choices.

And women who wear skimpy clothes can't complain about sexual assault.

Look, I am not saying the kid deserved to get shot. Not even close. What I am saying is that no one is a saint in this scenario.

You know that is no where near the same thing.

It's victim blaming one way or another. The burden is on the police to handle these situations to as high a standard as possible. Seven shots in four seconds is the norm. Something's wrong with this picture.

The kid was 17. Who do I expect more from? The cop, who made poor choices.

Answer my question, please. You made an argument that seems to suggest that leeway should be given due to a persons age. Is that the case, or not?

I said "The kid was 17. Who do I expect more from? The cop, who made poor choices."

That's pretty straight up. I expect more from the cop. Absolutely.

You are continuing to dodge the question. Does age play a role in the amount of leeway officers should give to someone, yes or no?

I'm not dodging the question. Yes, the cop should have given the kid more leeway because of his age. I've made that plain.

Now perhaps you'll answer my earlier question:

"Should his resistance have been dealt with by shooting him dead? "

An age he could have been made aware of if he had given him his ID... but wait... wait a minute... he didn't provide that. Should a 17 year old be given a pardon for speeding tickets or running a stop sign as well?

No, it shouldn't.
