Injecting the word "liberal" into this discussion just shows how ignorant and small-minded you are. It's pointless, irrelevant, and has zero to do with the conversation in any way.

And newsflash: Yeah, being "disrespectful" isn't a crime, or a shooting offense. And once again, respect is earned. It isn't a given.

Mass murder is a completely different conversation, unless you're talking about something else.

The same you tell to stay off your lawn, I expect.

We all understand: You see nothing more than a brat who got what he deserved. Repeating yourself doesn't make the sentiment any better.

That the ones braying loudest about "law and order" wind up more often than not on the wrong side of history, and not changing it for the better. Let it steep. Maybe the thought'll finally come to you.

Yes, it seems GD likes interjecting key words that she thinks makes her points better. She uses words that she thinks will trigger reaction like a tabloid paper. It's soooooooo transparent. Those liberals !

I can understand why you'd be sensitive about the word liberal. I don't blame you, but it's a fact of life and it has everything to do with the disrespect we are seeing at every turn. If you must resort to name calling that only proves I hit a nerve. You libs are so sensitive. :chuckle:

Being disrespectful to police should be a crime, but you libs would have a cow if we dared make it one.

It makes a pretty phrase...."respect is earned", but you respect firemen whether they deserve it or not, and you disrespect cops whether they deserve it or not. So, really you don't mean what you say.

I certainly would if he talked to me like he did to that cop. I'd take my hose and give him something to whine about....camera and all.

If it makes you feel like a nice guy in comparison to me, Granite, I'm willing to give you a pat on the back. I know you're not as mean as you pretend to be.

I don't need to let it steep. I know that a law abiding town has always been a happy town. I learned that watching Gunsmoke. :)

Key Words. Your new nickname is Tabloid Glory

I do agree police officers should be given some respect, but you are not seriously comparing a tv show to what is the modern day police state are you?

That seems to be hers and others idea of the world, regressing back to the 50s and 60s. It must be a baby boomer thing ? :idunno:

I would expect baby pj to think I was serious, but you? I didn't see that one coming, for sure. My point stands, however. Law abiding communities....middle class neighborhoods as opposed to inner city ghettos, for instance. There is a real difference in respect for authority. To deny it seems a bit more than denial....

This "modern day police state" is a figment of the liberal imagination. Plain and simple.

Sensitive, no. Annoyed by its overuse here? Yes. On TOL it's a sign of laziness and ignorance on behalf of the user. You guys use it as a shorthand for "anything I don't like and or disagree with."

Fascist.

When it comes to firefighters, it's a different ballgame. Frankly I see them risking their lives more directly and much more often than most cops. What's so terrible about taking people on a one-on-one basis and judging them as individuals? A badge and gun do not make someone worthy of my respect. End of story. Earn it.

I certainly would if he talked to me like he did to that cop. I'd take my hose and give him something to whine about....camera and all.

Don't care what you think of me. The point stands. You're happy to see the kid dead.

I don't need to let it steep. I know that a law abiding town has always been a happy town.

Again, not what I said. But given how you're squirming away from what I did say I don't think the point's lost on you. You're just ignoring it.

Folks who go loud and long about law and order don't change history for the better. And as often as not wind up on the wrong side of it.

They used to complain and warn about "jackbooted thugs," then didn't even realize that the thugs had already showed up.

Because what we really want is a nation full of terrified citizens who obey and do what they're told. Which is what America was and is all about.

or, maybe just teach stupid people how to interact with the police :idunno:

It used to something that was taught at home...respect for authority.

Tug your forelock, bow your head, and say "yessir" when your superiors walk by.

No, respect isn't taught, it is earned. Authority that has not earned respect doesn't deserve respect.

absolutely, the cop should know it's a kid, the kid was being nice just stupid.

The whole thing escalated when he KICKED THE PHONE out of the kid's hand, that is what escalated to the taser then the gun. The kid then feared and stupidly attacked the officer.

The point is the cop didn't have to kick the phone and cause the temper flare. The cop could have been a normal nice officer, not Robocop

what did this kid do that was stupid?
