17 Year Old Shot And Killed By Cop

Well, I think their very presence is peace keeping. The crooks always wait until the cops pass by before they break into a store. And you know how many cops there are compared to law breakers? They can't be everywhere all the time.

Depends on where you live and the situation and setting, I suppose.

Yeah, that's true. I happen to live in a nasty little town with no law enforcement at all. If something happens here, the Staters have to come in and that usually takes a night and a day. There were more Sheriffs at one time, but they have suffered major staff cuts. We've been told to protect ourselves, and the drunks and meth heads seem pretty deterred by knowing that we are not an unarmed community.

Let me put it this way: I'd prefer we lived in a society where any kind of situation would end if someone told a cop "I flashed my highbeams because I thought yours were on." That's it.

and the cop would say - "Oh, ok. Don't do it again, it's against the law. Have a nice evening, mr whoever you are because i'm not going to ask you for your license and registration now"? :freak:

you. are. a. retard.

In rural environments (and I speak from experience) self-policing's a way of life, and you certainly don't count on a rapid police response. Of course, that implication goes both ways; folks know they're on their own, but the phrase "shoot em, shovel em, and shut up" doesn't always just apply to stray dogs who keep killing your livestock.:noid:

It's interesting how that Gadsden flag only seems important when it's a bumper sticker on a pickup truck.

Sure. Talk is cheap. Frankly a lot of those Tea Party/Oath Keeper/Free Stater types have zero issue with the actual treading. Just as long as they're the ones doing it. And if not, they're often okay with cheerleading the real head breakers.

Wanna know why and how things happen the way they do? The kind of people who cheer, or who just don't have a problem with it? You don't need to look very far. This is how it happens. This is how it always happens.

And on. And on.

But that's the whole point, right? We're used to it. We're worn down and told to just take it. Go along. Tolerate it. Put up. They're the cops; they're right, you're wrong.

Once they figure out that much of the public will support cops no matter what--literally, no matter what--they'll act accordingly.

And your time to whine, is later, not while it is happening. In this case, since there was a law that disallowed what happened (flashing high beams), you would lose.

I don't think I understand what you're saying here. Surely it's not that we shoot people and bury them? We aren't quite that "rural". We're a town with a store and a post office and a tavern and a couple of churches....just no school and no law enforcement. If we have to shoot someone, we still call the cops. ;)

Cop: "You say one more curse word and you're going to jail. One more! One more!"

Wow.

So she was in the back seat feeding the baby a bottle (not breastfeeding apparently, although what's wrong with that in a non-moving vehicle?) so what was he going to charge them with before he came up with cursing and disturbing the peace?

what does this have to do with the stoned seventeen year old who wouldn't show his license and registration, fought with the cop and got shot for his stupidity?

This is what we've become. This is who we are. Once you accept the problem you can fix it. Not before.

Because he doesn't think it's wonderful to live in a police state and you do?

Anna, in a police state the police control everything...even what you are allowed to say. Here, we just want people to show their license if they want the privilege of driving a car. This fear mongering the libs are promoting by such statements is why our policemen are being targeted...shot down just because they are cops.

Rawstory? That's the same rag that "reported" this last case. This is like reading the Enquirer as if it was fact.
