it didn't hurt Republicans in the past elections, why would it now? blaming is a very different degree of disagreement then not voting for. if you are only a fiscal conservative that votes republican because of taxes and spending that does not want a shutdown over PP, voting for the socialist democrats isn't really an option.

I believe it takes and act of congress to order the air traffic controllers to stay on the job without pay during a shutdown to keep air traffic moving. I believe the military also has to have special considerations put in place to keep our soldiers fighting.

America has proven over and over again that it does not want to end abortion. The democrats are up front and honest about their desire to keep it legal. The Republicans lie about ending abortion as every time they have been in a place to actually do something meaningful, they don't. They can't afford to as they run the risk of losing a large percentage of their voting base if they ever actually ended abortion. That is the political reality of America today.
