On a global scene

Steve Jobs dying
The US seemingly going farther right politically, though that may be because of less excitement on part of some lefties who see Obama as disappointing.
The earthquake in Japan
All the GoP debates
Kim Jong Il dying
The Arab Spring
A banner year for interactive entertainment
Probably some other stuff that I just don't remember at the moment

On a personal note, it was probably the best year of my life

Nearly losing my sister to liver failure
Finding out my mother isn't my biological mom (both of these brought us all much closer)
Getting a grip on and controlling this mania of mine
Reconnecting with family and going back to church
Landing a job as an abassador/conselor for my local hospital
