to quote the bible

love your enemies

Or, "shake the dust from your sandals..."?

Who is our enemy? Our enemy is HaSatan and all that he represents.
So I agree with Chrys in that we are to reach out in love to all who do not know Yeshua and we are to do so with love and patience. But when someone refuses to accept Yeshua and His teaching, we are to do what Bybee posted. The thing we do that I don't understand is we tend to continue to hang with people who have clearly refused Yeshua and His teaching and, in doing so, we are no longer following Yeshua's teaching. There's a reason He tells us to put distance between ourselves and those who refuse Him. Rebellion breeds and corrupts.

So to answer Knight's question, no, we are not to hate wicked people. We are to hate wickedness/sin and confusion and distance ourselves from it and its author.

He also called them white washed tombs filled with dead men's bones.
How hateful :carryon:

could have been a reference to the Prophets?

Ezekiel 37:11-12
11 Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves,

do you think the Pharisees knew the scriptures? and what Jesus was referencing?

how quick Christian are to throw Jesus under the bus to justify their own hatred and need to insult people rather than learn what he was teaching about. :nono:

It certainly is a waste of time.

Who did Christ call white washed tombs and a brood of vipers? The religious elite, Pharisees that followed the law but had no love in their hearts, it was the Pharisee that, when he prayed, thanked God that he was not like the sinners. That is what a white washed tomb is, all bright and clean on the outside (like the people that followed the law and fulfilled the religious observations), but on the inside they are just filled with death and decay, they lacked the capacity to love and forgive.

No.

Psalm 139:21-22

Yes, it is wrong to hate wicked people so much that you refuse to rebuke them for their sins.

Leviticus 19:17
17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.

Well, okay, it depends on how you're defining hate here.

A righteous hatred is right and perfect, and is borne of godly love, which is a perfect love; that will drive you to rebuke the wicked.

Is it wrong to hate wicked people?

have you witnessed anyone on here be wicked? do anything wicked?

because a person says they are gay when they come here, have you personal knowledge of whether or not the committed an act?

if they simply "think" they are gay, what makes their desire of the flesh any more wicked then hetero lust?

Jesus said any man who lust after a woman is guilty of adultery.

let he of you who is without sin cast the first stone.

and no Lighthouse, no one here believes you never lust after women, no matter how many scriptures you try and find to justify your hatred or name calling of gays you are not better according to Jesus, you are just as wicked and a hypocrite to do so.
